Outreach and Missions
Our mission is to do as much good as we can. We reach out to those in need through various programs. Our congregation collects food donations for the Jackson Food Pantry. This ongoing collection helps the food pantry continue to meet the needs of those in our community in need of food.
We reach out to children and families through two organizations, Children’s Futures and Angel’s Wings. Angel’s Wings is a shelter for abused and abandoned children from birth to age 14. Children’s Futures is a Christian based family outreach that provides health services, parenting education, counseling, clothing, and referral. Our congregation donates clothing, toys and books to the children and family members.
We also participate in the UMCOR Blankets Program which responds to disasters nationally and internationally.
Current Outreach and Mission Projects
Family Emergency Food Basket
We like to keep an emergency food basket at the church in case of need. Right now we need peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, rice, tuna and paper goods. These items will complete the food basket for the present time.
Annual Coat Drive
The Outreach Committee will begin our annual winter coat drive on October 15th. We will collect winter coats for adults and children. Angel’s Wings Children’s Shelter and Children’s Future Christian Family Outreach will be the recipients.
Thanksgiving Baskets
We will also be collecting food for Thanksgiving Baskets. There are Jackson families in need of food and the baskets will be distributed through the Jackson Food Pantry. A list of food items will be in the church Narthex and on the website or see Eileen Triolo.
